Electric bikes are designed to have very long lasting batteries, and many of them have the option to carry extra batteries to swap out during your trip for an even longer time out on the road or on the trail. Remember, these batteries are not exactly featherweights, so pack accordingly if you are going to do this. Fortunately, the power assist when you are pedaling more than makes up for the added weight of those batteries and most of your stuff, so even when raising a heavy mountain ebike it still may feel like you are riding a light weight street bike. Ebikes offer a great electric burst of speed and endurance. They are also very good for cross country as you can combine the shock absorption and great hill climbing capacity of a mountain electric bike with the light weight of a road bike after the electric pedal assist makes up for the added weight of the mountain bike completely.
